they turned out really cute. these of course are not all that i did.

i did 8 names in all; makena, madison, charlie, hali, shantel, sam, sav, and princess!!!

kenadee's holiday message 2008

Twas the weeks before Christmas & all through our home,
we are enjoying the season & writing our poem.
Our home is ready with mistletoe and holly,
santa will be coming with toys so jolly.
What fun we had in the year 2008,
we drove to California; Disneyland was great.
We saw mickey & minnie; princesses too,
then down to San Diego to see shamu.
In heaven now is where Grandma ‘C’ lives
along with Jesus in my heart she is.
Grandmas love & smiles we will always remember,
she’s our angel watching over us, we really do miss her.
August was my birthday & right before my eyes
Cinderella was there; what a big surprise.
I’m 4 years old now & I started preschool
I am learning a lot, it’s really fun & cool.
To Moab again we went in dad’s jeep
we crawled up the rocks, they were really steep.
Daddy still works safe at Nucor Utah;
Mommy styles hair at the Kutting Edge Salon & Spa.
We are very thankful for our health & happiness.
with our family and friends we feel so blessed.

I was trying to find a good Christmas quote for this week and stumbled upon this one. I loved it. And it is so true. Why is it that every Christmas, we are more generous, more kind, more patient? At least it seems that way sometimes during this oh-so-over-commercialized thing that warrants a "Happy Holidays" on every retail store sign rather than "Merry Christmas." I believe this. As we celebrate the birth of Christ during this season, it is only appropriate, and best, to celebrate His life all year. He certainly isn't just available to us during the Christmas season, and we should show our love and gratitude to Him for His life and sacrifice throughout the entire year. That truly is the real spirit of Christmas. To remember that this season is not really about lights and trees, packages and bows, or chocolates and fruit cake. It's about remembering He who lived and died so that we can have eternal life. And how should we thank Him? By keeping the Christmas spirit all year long. So, in January, when the tree is gone, the toys are broken or lost, the Christmas music has been shelved for another year, remember the season. Remember how you were extra nice to that waitress or the cashier at the toy store. Remember all the donations you gave to those in need. Remember all the time you spent with loved ones. okay, so my friend cindy had this on her blog and i LOVE doing these things...it is fun to get to know more about your friends. enjoy!!! hope you do this too!!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? wrapping paper for sure...it is much more fun
2. Real Tree or Artificial? two artificial...one upstairs and one downstairs.
3. When do you put up the tree? after thanksgiving.
4. When do you take the tree down? usually after Christmas and before new years.
5. Do you like eggnog? hmmmmm...yeah i do...a little, if i add a little rum!!
6. Favorite gift received as a child? (showing my age here) atari and a small b/w tv. also an andy gibb poster i got to color. (if you don't know andy gibb i am much much older than YOU). i also got skiis one year, hated every minute of it. i always got a doll too.
7. Hardest person to buy for? my husband...i'm not sure why, but he is pretty tough
8. Easiest person to buy for? kenadee...she wants everything. she keeps asking for a guitar but she already has one from last christmas. but now it looks as though she is getting a hannah montana one. (hey...it is the one thing she keeps saying!)
9. Do you have a nativity scene? i have had many but my favorite and the only one i have now is my willow tree nativity. it is simple and beautiful.
10. Mail or e mail Christmas cards? mail!!!! i love sending them as much as i love recieving them. i have made my Christmas card for the last 2 years. thanks jamie and amy.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? i can't think of a bad one, but my grandma 'c' would always give me very strange gifts, from finger hut. (if you don' know finger hut, remember ?? #6)
12. Favorite Christmas movie? no hesitation here...its a wonderful life
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? usually before thanksgiving, i'm not one to get it done early. but this year is going do be very simple. Christmas is about Jesus...not about $$ and gifts right??
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? i don't think so.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? chocolates, fudge, homemade treats. not fruitcake!!!
16. Lights on the tree? what is a Christmas tree without thousands of lights??

Favorite Christmas song? this is tough...i love 'santa baby' (eartha kitt version!). i also love 'sleigh ride' it is so happy and fun. but i also love the classics; 'silent night', 'its the most wonderful time of the year'. mikes favorite is 'little drummer boy'. kenadees is 'frosty' and 'rudoplph'
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? travel far? no. just in the valley to grandma and grandpas house.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? yes!!! (cindy you left out prancer and vixen!! :)) Dasher, Dancer, Prancer,Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and don't forget Rudolph!!!!
20. Angel on the tree top, or star? a star!! on both trees
21. Open presents Christmas eve or morning? Christmas eve we always open pj's. family presents are open in the morning.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? the chaos and craziness. we forget about the true meaning of Christmas. its not all about gifts and santa.
23. Christmas traditions? we have alot!! every year i take kenadee's picture and put it in a frame (i have 5 now!) i always read a Christmas story from the bible on Christmas eve. we only have 3 presents under the tree for each of us. 3 gifts was great for Jesus right??!!
24. Favorite food for Christmas dinner? (and traditions) Christmas eve brunch (at jim & sues) quiche... yummy. Christmas eve dinner (betty's tradition, at my house this year) oyster stew (not my favorite) and i always make another a yummy soup. Christmas day at my mom's lots of dips, chips, salads, sweets and french dip or turkey sandwiches!!!
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? hmmmmm. i have all i want or need. my family. i would love to just enjoy this great season!!!

first snow

what a surprise to wake up to some snow on the ground this morning. of course kenadee wanted to get her 'snow clothes, snow gloves, snow hat and snow boots' on and go play in the snow!! how can you say no to a cute little 4 year old who just wants to go play!!! so we did and it was fun.

mom, dad and kenadee had a little snow ball fight and built a snowman. (it is probably melted by now). i asked kenadee what her snowmans name was and she said its name was kenadee too!!!

well friends, i hope you had a little fun in the snow like we did. there is nothing better than spending time with your family!!

what a wonderful thanksgiving

and a beautiful day.

of course we ate until are tummies were about to pop with yummy food at grandma donnas. i was so grateful to be with my family to celebrate. mikes cousins from nebraska came to utah to enjoy the thanksgiving holiday with the mumms. it is great to see them!! we all took our turn to say what we are thankful for. here is what our sweet kenadee said this year.

'i am thankful for my family and friends. thank you for this beautiful day. for Jesus and God and our blessings. thankful for my mommy and my daddy and my koko.' then looking around the table. 'i am thankful for my grandma (donna) and my grandpa (andy) and my other grandma (betty)' and with a very big smile 'and chad' (her cousin who she loves very much!!!). 'and thankful for our food...amen' yes... she is a thoughtful little girl. at bedtime she told us again what she was thankful for and sang it in a song. she is such a little sweetheart. i truly am blessed to have an amazing daughter and a wonderful husband. i hope you enjoyed your thanks giving as much as we did. thank you all for your friendship!! and no i did not get up at the crack of dawn this morning to go shop...i'm going later!!!

THANKFUL

THANKSGIVING is an incredible holiday. a client last week told me it was his favorite because it is not over commercialized and it is a time to appreciate and acknowledge the many things we have. i agree!! so here is my thankful list...some are heartfelt, some are silly and some just ordinary...here we go.

unicorns, butterflies and rainbows

every year at thanksgiving dinner we all say what we are thankful for. i have to tell you what kenadee said last year. it was her turn and she folded her arms and said 'i'm not thankful for anything!' okay. then a minute later she perked up and said 'i am thankful for unicorns, butterflies and rainbows'. what a sweetie, can't wait to hear what she is thankful for this year!

i can't believe it is almost time for the long awaited twilight girls night!!! i am so excited. my countdown says 2 hours, but i won't see edward and bella for about 21!!! i know most of you reading this is just as excited as i am. i'll see YOU at the movies!!!

i am not sure how i did it, but i got this little countdown to twilight on my blog. damn...i mean dang... i am getting good at this blogging stuff. thanks cassie...i got it from your blog!!!! emily and jamie...are you so proud of me??!! i can't wait for our girls night out.

our little 'asian girl'

halloween was a lot of fun this year. kenadee dressed up as 'a little asian girl with chopsticks in her hair and a bun' (as she would say). so mike and i decided to go with the asian theme. my costume is actually my mother-in-laws pj's!!! and i borrowed mikes karate apparel from a friend at work. we look pretty great!!! since kenadee was born mike has worked every halloween until this year. they carved pumpkins together and he took her trick-or-treating to sunshine terrace while i was at work. (if you have not been to sunshine terrace to trick-or-treat, you really should go next year. the little ladies and men love to see all the cute children...i think it makes their entire month exciting!!) after that we went to my mom's for pizza and then to the grandmas and grandpas. gotta make the rounds!!! when we finally got home we went trick-or-treating around our neighborhood...it was great!!!! especially to see all of our fabulous friends and their children dressed up. kenadee was so cute and fun. she is now big enough to go knock on the doors and say 'trick or treat'. mike and i are quite the proud parents!!!! i hope you all enjoyed halloween as much as we did.

mike and kenadee carved pumpkins this year and had a great time. kenadee was up to her elbows in pumpkin guts and loved every minute of it. mike is great at carving pumpkins. we had a pumpkin for dad, mom, kenadee and koko. they did them while i was gone, what a fun surprise when i got home!!!

got pink??

no this is not about the pink ribbon and breast cancer awareness month...although that is very important. it started with kenadee, surprisingly she did not give it to me, but she did pass it on to her dad. the dreaded PINK EYE!!!! so beware and stay away from my husband right now. i would take a picture of him and post it but i don't think he would like it very well!!! he is not feeling the greatest so we are staying far far away from him!!!

well...kenadee always has something funny to say. the other day on her uncle daves birthday her daddy was making root beer floats. she asked, 'daddy why does it foam up like that?' her dad replied, 'thats just what it does'. she turned around and walked off and said, 'well,
thats how i roll!' WHAT!!!??? where did that come from??? we asked her where she heard that. 'the chee waa waa movie' translation... hmmm i don't even know how to spell the breed of dog, and this spell check didn't help any. you know what i am talking about right, the taco bell dog??? i am not even going to try to spell it!!! any way... that is now our saying.

1. mike grew up in every small town in nebraska. he is a corn husker

2. i grew up in spanish fork

3. mike is missing his thumb and pointer finger on his right hand. we tell children that the nose monster got it...hey, they don't pick their nose anymore.

4. mike proposed to me after 7 weeks of dating. we did call it off after a couple of months, but we finally got the timing right a year and a half later. we were married in july of 1997. i wear my wedding veil every ear on our anniversary!!!

5. we lived in the small town of edenton, north carolina for almost 2 years. i loved living in the south. 'hey y'all'.

6. mike and i used to ride a harley. we have been to canada, and the coast of oregon and california. now we have a jeep (yellow of course) and we love to 'rock crawl'. especially in moab.

7. mike is the middle child...older brother dave and younger brother judd. i am the baby...older brother mike and older sister kamie.

8. mike loves oingo boingo and i am a parrot head. jimmy buffet, in case you didn't know!!!

9. i love tv, especially reality shows. mike loves poker and playstation.

10. mike raced motor cross as a young boy.

11. i have been a hairstylist for 19 years...wow. mike has worked at nucor steel for 20 years...wow...wow!!!

13. kenadee started pre-school this year....we can't believe how time flies.
